GANDERBAL 09 May【KNZ】:Family of Slain Militant Dr Mohammad Rafi were dumb struck when Dr Rafia (wife) informed them today early morning that he had joined Militant ranks and was trapped in South Kashmir’s Shopian District on Sunday.
Ghulam Hassan uncle of Slain Assistant professor said, “Sunday around 7AM, Shabi (Dr Rafi) Called his family and talked with his father, Mother and wife. He told them that he has joined militants and is trapped now. He told them forgive him and pray. He said them this was his destiny.”
Cousin of Dr Rafi remember him as docile person. He said, “I still can’t believe he decided to take this path. He was asset for whole Kashmir.Few days ago he told his father that he was blessed by Allah. But, We never thought in our wildest dream that he will join militancy.”
According to reports said that Dr Mohd Rafi had passed the Class 12 exams from Govt Higher Secondary School Ganderbal and completed his graduation at Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar.
Dr Rafi initially worked as stock assistant in the government’s veterinary department. After completing his PhD in November last year, he was recruited as contractual assistant professor in sociology at KU.
Students of Departments of sociology who were his pupils come from all over Kashmir came to his village Chanduna in Ganderbal district to offer his funeral prayer. With moist eyes one on him pupil said, “He was our beloved teacher. He always stood for justice.
He used to told us never scumb to injustice. He used to teach us delicately. He never compromised for wrong things . His decision is to take this path is really shocking.”
According to family members the Slain Militant had recently completed on Friday didn’t returned home. Family of Dr Rafi members registered a missing report.
Saturday Protest erupted in Kashmir University in Kashmir against his missing.
Sources said Sunday early morning Dr Rafi along with other associates of HM were trapped in Shopian.Police even tried to presuide Rafi and bring his family members near encounter site but he denied to surrender.
Sources said after hours long battle Dr Rafi among 4 militants were killed.
“Please forgive me if I have let you down. I am trapped in an encounter,” he told his father, Abdul Rahim Bhat, on phone.KNZ
