Kupwara, July 20 : Mother of only brother among seven sisters brutally murdered in Batergam Kupwara has sought immediate hunt for the killers of the deceased and stringent punishment to them to ensure justice to the family.
Wailing over the death of her only son, the mother, Shareefa Begum, said “We are thankful to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and the media for their role in recovery of the body of my son who was brutally killed. We urge government to launch man hunt to arrest the killers and bring them to justice. My husband is a laborer and my only son murdered brutally by the killers was a student. My seven daughters have lost their lonely brother and if justice can’t be done to my family then where should those people expect who are even in government service.”
Talking to Kashmir News Service DIG north Kashmir Dr. Sunil Gupta said “we are more pained by the tragic death of the minor boy of Batergam Kupwara and I have gone personally to the spot. I have directed SSP Kupwara to fast track the investigation and arrest the killers in shortest span of time. I assure that killers will be arrested and brought to justice but I simultaneously appeal the bereaved family and the people of Kupwara to maintain calm till the killers are identified, arrested and brought to justice.
Condemning the brutal killing of the minor of Batergam Kupwara in mysterious circumstances, the PDP president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti said “The charred and disfigured body of a ten year old minor found in Kupwara is savage beyond imagination. If this doesn’t shake the faith of our society what will?.”
Peoples Conference chairman and former minister Sajad Lone also condemned the killing of the minor boy as he took to micro blogging social networking website twitter and in a series of tweets he said “The brutal murder of a nine year old child in Gulgam Kupwara depicts the deplorable drift of our society, “It is imperative that an SIT is constituted to investigate the brutal murder of a child in Gulgam Kupwara. My prayers with the parents and thanks @spvaid for constituting SIT.
Theperpetrators of this brutal horrendous act have to be punished. I am a father of two young children. Whole night Was thinking about his final moments-the blows rained on him severing his arm and burning the face.”
Meanwhile, shutdown and protests erupted in Kupwara and several adjoining areas after the recovery of the body of a minor boy of Batergam spread in the entire district.
According to the KNS correspondent, shutdown in Kupwara against the killing hit normal life across the district as authorities had closed down colleges and schools in the district and passenger transport was off the roads. The streets wore a deserted look as people rushed to join street protests in Batergam, Gulgam and other adjoining villages.(KNS)
