The family members and close relatives of a missing Kashmiri student of Sharda University on Thursday staged a demonstration here seeking details of their missing son.
Reports reaching GNS said that the parents and relatives of Ahtisham Bilal, a first-year student of Bachelors in Medical Imaging Technology (BMIT), this morning assembled at Press Colony here and staged a demonstration seeking whereabouts of the missing student. The family said that four days have passed but they have no clue of Ahtisham, who went missing from New Delhi on Sunday.
“There are too many speculations about my son. Every day, I receive 200 calls from different people. Some people say he is here some say he’s there. With every passing day, our pain and agony is increasing,” Ahtisham’s father Bilal Ahmad Sofi told GNS.
He also refuted the claims of Noida police that his son’s last location was traced in Sopore town of Baramulla. He said even the CID personnel have claimed that his son was in Jammu and Poonch.
Sofi said that he was in constant touch with his son when he went to New Delhi for a picnic on Sunday last. He said his son promised to send him the pictures of the places he has been to.
“At sharp 4:29 pm, I called Ahtisham to ask him if he has left for the hostel. He said he was on the way to the metro station. Two hours later when I called him, his phone was switched off,” Sofi said.
“We waited till midnight for any information from his end. Around midnight, I went to Khanyar police station and filed a missing report,” he told this news agency.
Sofi urged the Governor and the Delhi government to help the family trace the missing student.
Pertinently, Ahtisham was thrashed by a group of local students at the University on October 4 sparking widespread outrage across the Kashmir Valley. The video of students beating him went viral on social media websites inviting sharp condemnation from the people. (GNS)
