Tangmarg 07 Nov : Taking cognizance of a complaint filed by a family, Police Station Kunzar here in North Kashmir Baramulla have registered a formal case against Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari of Karhama tehsil of Tangmarg.

Nisar Ahmed, the complainant in his complaint has alleged that under the garb of removing illegal encroachment the Revenue officials illegally detained and thrashed his father Wali Muhammad and wrought havoc near his house, resulting in the brain hemorrhage of his mother Sara Banoo who was shifted to hospital where she breathed her last.

“Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari arrived at our house on the behest of our neighbor and started dismantling the fencing. They beat up the inmates and showered invectives on family members. The Tehsildar illegally detained my father and maternal uncle and thrashed them. My mother couldn’t bear this humiliation and suffered stroke and died after couple of hours after the incident,” the complainant has alleged.
Police Station Kunzar took cognizance of the complaint and registered an FIR vide number 118/2018 under section 302 RPC.

The registration of an FIR by police against Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari sparked a protest and a one day token strike from revenue officials who have appealed Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to revoke the said case against the officials.

“These officials had gone to a spot to remove ‘encroachment’. One of the members of a family who had allegedly encroached upon government land had complained of health issue and “she was rushed to hospital where she breathed her last” How are these officials involved in her death ,” Provincial president Kashmir J&K Patwar Association Peerzada Fayaz Ahmad Baba.

A police official told news agency CNS that it was a cognizable offence and the matter is under investigation. “We registered an FIR after the family filed a complaint. We followed due process of law,” said the official.(CNS)
