BUGAM 27 FEB (KNZ):Around 10.46 a.m Mi 17 chopper of Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Garend Kallan area of Budgam district leaving 7 persons dead on the spot.

The Blast was so intense that locals of the area thought Pakistan has attacked Airport. but later it was confirmed that an aircraft was crashed in Gareand kallan Around 17 Km. far from budgam.

After Police reached the spot they found 7 bodies 6 of them are considered to be IAF personnals while One Civilian Kifayat Hussain Ganie (30) Son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganie is considered to be killed in this crash.

Mohammad Maqbool Bhat of garend while talking with Kashmir News Zone-KNZ told that “The whole area was in total silence as aircrafts were Roaring in the sky from very early morning when we heard the blast we thought war has started but when we reached the spot the plane was burning in flames. Later police came and retrieved bodies from the plane”.

Bhat also added that, ” some youth shouted Anti india and pro pakistan slogans as they thought it was crashed by Pakistan Air Force”.

Police officials of district Budgam however has denied any identification till now.”we have retrieved 7 charred Bodies and none among them has been identified till now, their identity will be Acertained after postmortem”.KNZ
