BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 28: District Election Officer Bandipora Shahbaz Mirza Thursday reviewed the preparedness for the upcoming General Election to the Lok Sabha 2019 in the district.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reyaz Ahmad Beigh, nodal officers , EROs and other senior officials of the district.
The meeting discussed threadbare the details of polling stations, locations with regard to accessibility, telecom connectivity, basic minimum facilities , infrastructure , vulnerability and other related issues. Mirza impressed upon the officials to keep the polling stations at a convenient locations and ensure basic facilities including water, electricity, toilet, cleanliness in the polling stations.
He urged the officials to personally visit the respective polling stations and communicate to the concerned official in-case there is need for any repair or up-gradation of the polling stations so that necessary arrangements are made well in time. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure basic minimum facilities including installation of ramps at all polling stations for special persons.
The meeting also discussed manpower plan availability for various categories required, training schedules and plan, movement plan, force deployment plan, Communication Plan, EVM Management Plan, Material Management, Polling staff welfare provisions , SVEE overview, and other related issues.
Threadbare discussions were also held regarding clubbing of polling stations, change in polling locations and physical status of polling locations besides discussing various other arrangements.
Mirza asked the officials involved in the election process to put their best efforts and work in a synergized manner to ensure free, fair and transparent polls in the district.
He said the Election Commission has started training process of the manpower for capacity building and properly training the poll staff.
It was given out that the Commission has imparted training to Static Surveillance Team (SST), Flying Squads (FS), Video surveillance Team( VST), Video viewing Team(VVT), Accounting Team ( ATs) and Compliant Monitoring Control Room and Call Canter (MCMC) while workshops have also been conducted regarding EVM/VVPAT demonstration for the Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Supervisors, media persons, political parties and other stakeholders were informed about functioning and operation of EVMs and VVPAT machines.
.The meeting also discussed key issues related to poll preparedness including updating of electoral rolls, Functioning of ERO Net, Polling station arrangements and EVM- VVAP etc.
DEO Bandipora asked the Monitoring team to work in coordination to make election process Voter- friendly and accessible for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
