Ganderbal, March 11: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, today convened a meeting of officers to ensure adequate arrangements for the smooth celebration of upcoming Shab-I-Mehraj and Nouroz in the district.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Tehsildars Wakura, Executive Officer Municipality, ARTO Ganderbal, Dy SP Traffic, and other concerned officers.
He directed to ensure better and improved facilities for the devotees who are expected to pay their obeisance at the shrines of the district on Nouroz and Meraj-ul-Alam days
The DDC directed the district administration to ensure uninterrupted availability of water supply, electricity, essential commodities, healthcare, cleanliness and illumination in and around the shrine, transportation, parking facility, deployment of fire tenders, etc.
The DC directed the officials of PDD, PHE, FCS&CA, ARTO and other departments to ensure uninterrupted respective services during the holy days.
The DC asked the Municipal authorities to ensure proper cleanliness around all congregation sites including Shia dominated areas and installation of street lights where ever required on the occasion of Shab-I-Mehraj and Nouroz.
The DDC directed the Tehsildars to intensify marking checking in their concerned jurisdiction so that the prices/quality of commodities are ensured besides keep vigil on erring shopkeepers to curb black marketing and profiteering of essential commodities during festive days.
