June 24: Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Srinagar, Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Psychotropic substance from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Shampora Chowk intercepted a vehicle Sentro bearing registration number JK01J-5857 with two persons onboard. They have been identified as Moomin Mazoor Kak resident of Kak Mohalla Nowhatta and Samam Bashir Shah resident of Roshangarh Mohalla Nowhatta. During checking officers were able to recover 544 banned capsules of Simplex and Spasmoproxyvon Plus from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Nowhatta where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized by the officers.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 27/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
