Srinagar, Feb 12 : Two back to back earthquakes with one measuring 6.3 shook Jammu and Kashmir including northern parts of India on Friday evening.

Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.3 while the epicentre was Tajikistan.

He said although two tremors were felt, but at present the department concerned, NCS, has only shared details about the one measuring 6.3 while the details about the number of earthquakes will be shared later as it is being examined at present.

Ahmad said that the depth of the earthquake was 74 km. Soon after the strong tremors shook J&K, the people were seen rushing to the safer places and came out of their homes at around 10:30 PM.

Meanwhile, the reports of damage to the properties of the people are pouring in. The complete details of damage will be shared by KNO accordingly—(KNO)
