Ganderbal 13 Feb (KNZ):- The Srinagar – Sonamarg road which was closed for winter months is likely to be thrown open for vehicular traffic next week Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal told kashmir News Zone-KNZ on Saturday
Iqbal said strategic road has been cleared of snow, and work is going on in full swing to open Sonamarg for tourists and locals as soon as possible. And, if things go as planned, the highway will be thrown open to traffic next week
DC also said that opening the road this early will definitely facilitate the resumption of relief to the local people
Patenently the road used to remain closed for four to five winter months due to bad weather conditions, snowfall and threat of landslides and snow avalanches and no vehicle is being allowed to move ahead of Gagangeer 12 kms down to Sonamarag for this period.KNZ
