The tour was part of the weekly field tour programmes of the Deputy Commissioner to listen to public grievances of the people at their doorsteps.

He said the macadamization and repair of Bandipora Srinagar road was the long pending demand of the public and it shall reduce the travelling time between Srinagar and Bandipora.

DC Bandipora said the macdamization of important inner roads are being macadamized by R&B, PMGSY and Beacon across the district. He said last year the district macadamized a record length of 115 Kms and this year the administration aspires to macadamize more left over roads.

He cautioned the implementing agencies to meet the deadlines strictly in given developmental projects. He said the government won’t tolerate any inordinate delays in works and action as per law shall be taken against contractors who won’t meet the deadlines or will not ensure standard quality of works. He said the government can cancel the contract with such individuals or firms who won’t be able to do their job efficiently including macdamization.

During the visit, DC Bandipora also interacted with the locals to get the feedback about welfare schemes and developmental works. Locals apprised the Deputy Commissioner about various issues faced by them with regard to availability of basic amenities including water supply, electricity, healthcare, irrigation and roads. Dr Owais assured redressal of their grievances and also passed on spot directions for redressal of several grievances.

Dr Owais said the aim of the tour was to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance to the public at their door steps. He said conducting public outreach programmes provides an important feedback for the government to tailor its interventions for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the corridors of power in secretariat or other government offices.
