January 11: Police in Awantipora recovered an abducted girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime.
On 10-01-2022, Police Station Awantipora received a written complaint wherein the complainant stated that his daughter has been kidnapped by one person namely Sanju Singh son of Rai Singh resident of Pundail Gurdaspore Punjab.
Accordingly, on receipt of the complaint, a case vide FIR No. 03/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, a police party headed by SHO PS Awantipora with the assistance of technical team tracked down the location of the accused person in Banihal area. Immediately a police team was dispatched to Banihal to rescue the abducted girl. The team was able to recover the kidnapped girl from Sheer Bebi Banihal & arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime within 5 hours.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
Swift action by Police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals. Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood.
