Srinagar, Mar 14 : Night temperature increased and settled above normal across Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh on Monday, officials said.

A meteorological department told GNS that Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, recorded a low of 6.6°C against last night’s 5.0°C. The temperature is 2.9°C above normal for Srinagar during this time of the year.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.5°C against 3.7°C on the previous night and above normal by 2.3°C, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, had a low of 6.6°C against 4.8°C on the previous night, the official said.

Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.2°C against minus 0.2°C last night and normal of minus 1.2°C, he said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 2.2°C against 1.4°C on the previous night, he said. The temperature was 5.5°C above normal for this time of the year in the famous resort, he said.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 5.6°C against 3.6°C on the previous night and normal of 5.6°C, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 16.6°C against 14.6°C on the previous night, the official said. The temperature was 2.2°C above normal for the J&K’s winter capital during this time of the year, he said.

Banihal recorded a low of 12.6°C, Batote had a minimum of 12.7°C while Bhaderwah recorded a low of 8.2°C, the official said.

Ladakh’s Leh recorded a minimum of 0.0°C against the same as on minus 2.0°C previous night while automatic Kargil station recorded a low of minus 5.9°C. For now, the weatherman said mainly dry weather was expected over Jammu and Kashmir. (GNS)
