People demand market checking squads be activated

Srinagar, Apr 06 (KNO): Prices of kitchen staples including vegetables, mutton and chicken have shot up in Kashmir with the onset of the holy month of Ramadan.
Market-goers said that they are witnessing a sudden increase in prices of essentials since the holy month began on Sunday.
This, according to a local Gulam Nabi, is burning a hole in their pockets as buying fruits, vegetables and mutton at inflated rates is becoming almost unaffordable.
He said that the concerned departments have not constituted market checking squads so that consumers can heave a sigh of relief.
Director CAPD Kashmir said they have constituted market checking squads to regulate the prices and take action against violators.
Every district has one squad and Srinagar has two such squads to keep a tab on prices.
He appealed to people to contact their department if they have any complaints of price rise in markets of Kashmir—(KNO)
