Ganderbal, Sep 12.(KNZ): Health Department Ganderbal on Monday celebrated “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan” at Government Degree college Ganderbal
The event was took place under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal Dr Afrooza.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Afrooza enlightened them about the importance of the role of youth in eradicating this evil as it not only ruins the life of an addict but also the family and the society.
She also sensitised the students about the current statistics on the rise in suicides and mental health issues is one of the consequences of drug demand.
On the occasion, all the participants vowed to stay away from drugs and to make efforts to make India a drug free country. Student representatives also participated and generated awareness by displaying posters on anti-drugs theme.
Dr Umar Jan, said that drug addiction is an issue of grave concern, especially among the younger generation, and has detrimental impact not only on the individual concerned but on the society as a whole.
He called for joint efforts of various stake holders to eradicate drug menace from the district.
He stressed on the slogan” Say No to drugs” in order to achieve the goal of drug free society.(KNZ)
