Pulwama Feb 21KNT : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today chaired District Consultative Committee meeting to approve the Annual Credit Plan (2023-2024), which is based on Potential Linked Plan constituted by NABARD.

While discussing the plan, the DDC advised that more focus should be put on agriculture and allied activities as it forms the backbone of the district and suggested exploring best practices which would significantly improve the performance of this sector, officials told Sachnews in a press statement.
The amount allotted for the priority sector under credit plan (2023-2024) was approved for Rs. 3006.26 crores as compared to last year plan (2022-2023) which was 2745.96 crores thereby witnessing an increase of around 10%. The DDC also advised for the implementation of the schemes specifically for poor people.

He directed for ensuring balanced lending in all key sectors to promote equitable growth and also emphasized upon the heads of the financial institutions to spread awareness with regard to the welfare schemes sponsored by them among masses so that people can avail benefit for their socio-economic development.

The DDC hailed the role of agriculture and horticulture sectors in creating self-reliant and sustainable employment in the district.

He emphasized on the priority sector lending with a special focus on education, women development and agriculture allied sectors and directed concerned officials to organise the financial literacy camps in every block of the district and stressed upon the bankers and concerned officers to adopt public friendly approach and work in coordination so that good results are achieved at the grass roots level.

The Meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Pulwama, Chief Agriculture Officer, Lead District Manager, DDM NABARD, Chief Horticulture Officer, Cluster Head JK Bank and District Officers of line depts and other banks of districts.(KNT)
