Kulgam, May 03 : Continuing its unwavering efforts against “inimical” elements, Kulgam police has arrested a bootlegger and recovered huge consignment of illicit liquor from his possession.
Police spokesman told in a statement ,On 01.05.2023 Police party headed by SHO Qazigund established a checkpoint (Naka) at Mandhole crossing on NHW-44 and at about 1540 hours, during Naka checking one person carrying a bag and roaming in suspicious manner was signalled to stop for checking.
However the said person after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot. He was chased and after strenuous efforts he was apprehended tactfully and 10 bottles of illicit Liquor (750 ml each) were recovered from his possession. His identity was established as Ram Lal S/O Mehram R/O Rajistan.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 75/2023 U/S 50 Excise Act was registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation and from disclosure of the said arrested person 205 more Bottles of Illicit liquor (750 ml each) were recovered from his residence (rented room) at Vessu near NHW-44. Further investigation of the case is going on.
