Bandipora, Aug 19 (KNO): A 25-year-old woman was on Saturday morning found hanging in her rented accommodation at Quilmuqam village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, with her family accusing her husband of murder.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Ishrat Begum, wife of Ajaz Ahmad Shegojri of Quilmuqam village was found hanging in her rented accommodation.

Soon after receiving information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the deceased to hospital for postmortem examination, he said, adding that after conducting the medical and legal formalities, the body was handed over to her family members for last rites.

The official said the investigation in this regard has been started.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased woman have accused her husband of murder.

“She was married a few months ago. Her husband disallowed her from communicating with any of her relatives, subjected her to daily harassment, and now he has taken her life,” the family alleged. “We were shocked to learn this morning that she is no more,” they added.

As per the deceased’s family, the couple had altercations earlier regarding finances. “So, there is every possibility that he resorted to ending her life due to monetary issues,” they said.

The family has urged the authorities to carry out a thorough investigation and “unravel the truth”—(KNO)
