Sopore January 02: Continuing its drive against social crimes, police have arrested three gamblers in Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.
Acting on specific information about gambling activities at Muslim Peer Sopore, a police party of Police Station Sopore raided the specific site and arrested the 03 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Rameez Reyaz Dar son of Reyaz Ahmad Dar resident of Kralteng Sopore, Mohd Ashraf Dar son of Ghulam Mohi-u-din resident of Muslim Peer Sopore and Mohd Ayoub Dar son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Muslim Peer Sopore.
Officers have seized stake money of ₹15,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been taken up.
People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
