Tral: Special market checking squads of Tral admin, Police and Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today conducted inspection of various markets in Tral and adjacent Areas ahead of Eid festival to keep a check on hoarding, profiteering and black marketing.
A joint enforcement team headed by Executive Magistrate (A H Ganie) and SHO (G M Rathar) Tral conducted extensive drive of market checking across Tral in wee hours of the morning and throught out the day keeping in view the upcoming holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The team visited various areas which include Tral e Bala, Tral e Payeen, Shairabad, Lalgam, Hurdumir,Chandrigam, Dadsara, various markets and poultry farms to curb the unwarranted practice of hoarding and profiteering especially in respect of mutton and poultry items.
During the checking it was found that various butchers were selling mutton on exorbitant rates.Chicken were not available in the markets.
Acting tough on such defaulters the squad destroyed rotten vegetables and fruits.
Besides, a fine of Rs 8600 was also recovered from the defaulters who were found guilty of violating the government notified rates.
Meanwhile, Addl. Deputy Commissioner Tral appealed people to purchase Eid essentials on government approved rates and if they find anyone indulging in overcharging may be reported to this office for immediate necessary action or call on 01933 250116(ADC Office) 01933 250240 (Police).
