Jammu, June 2: A team of Government Railway Police (GRP) along with Railway staff facilitated the shifting of dead bodies and injured of the Akhnoor road mishap that claimed 22 lives and left nearly 60 injured near Tungi Morh in Kalidhar in Jammu outskirts.

A bus ferrying pilgrims from UP towards Shiv Khori via Bhambla fell into a gorge when it reached Kali Dhar in Akhnoor area on May 30.

A GRP official said on receiving information about the shifting of the bodies and injured persons to their native villages, the GRP team along with civil administration, railway staff, district police, and Red Cross, facilitated the process in two trains:- Jhelum Express and Andaman Special Train along with attendants with tickets late on Saturday night.

All coffins carrying 22 bodies and 17 injured persons were sent to their destination in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, they said.

The officials said that GRP’s special deployment extended all support and coordinated arrangements in shifting coffins carrying dead bodies and injured passengers using wheelchairs towards designated bogies en-marked by the railway authorities.–(UNI)
