Rajouri 29 Aug : An alert was sounded in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday after a cop’s service rifle went missing.
Sources said that an AK-47 rifle with a magazine of a policeman posted as PSO to a DySP rank officer went missing on the intervening night of August 26 and 27 from police lines Poonch.
“Soon after the matter came to light, an alert was sounded and searches were conducted in police lines to recover the weapon but nothing was found so far,” said a top source.
The policeman whose rifle has been missing has been detained and placed under suspension.
“We are looking into the matter and nothing can be said at this moment,” said a senior police official.(GK)
