Asks administration to disburse ex-gratia relief to victims

SRINAGAR, March 14: Minister for Finance and Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has expressed heartfelt grief over the tragic fire incident at Lal Nagar Chanapora in which three business units were gutted completely.
Bukhari directed the district administration Srinagar to provide all necessary assistance to the fire hit business unit holders so that they can resurrect themselves, adding the process may be expedited in view of the scale of damage caused to their units.
The Minister asked the district administration to ensure distribution of adequate ex-gratia compensation to the victims of this tragedy.
Expressing deep anguish over the apparent cause of fire incident, Bukhari appealed inhabitants of the locality to safeguard their lives and property by taking precautionary measures to avert such incidents in future.
“We should take precautions and prevent short circuits in our homes, shops and business establishments because most often these short circuits have proven disastrous,” he said.
On the directions of Bukhari, a delegation from his private office led by PDP Zone President Amirakadal Mohammad Ashraf Dar also visited the fire victims ensuring them all possible help in their rehabilitation.
