‘Figure outnumbers previous records; Fresh batch of over 1500 pilgrims leave Jammu for cave shrine’

Jammu, Jul 31 (KNO): The pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine has completed one month, with nearly 4 lakh devotees performing darshan of the Ice-Shivlingam.

Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that since the commencement 3,97,272 pilgrims visited holy cave during last 31 days and preformed darshan of Holy Ice-Shivlingam of which 6,136 pilgrims paid obeisance till 5.00 pm on Monday (July 31).

Amid foolproof security arrangements and effective management, this year’s yatra outnumbered all the previous records.

This year many celebrities, including Badminton Champion Sania Nehwal, Sara Ali Khan and people from abroad visited the cave shrine and took blessing of Lord Shiva.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made a spherical mention about Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra during his recent Maan ki Baat programme and praised the administration for the arrangements.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has said that Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, coming from across the country and abroad, are now the brand ambassadors of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, amid tight security arrangements, the 29th batch of over 1550 pilgrims including 1165 Male, 354 Female, 07 Children, 19 Sadhus and 05 Sadhvis left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp, Jammu for Kashmir valley in a cavalcade of 66 vehicles under tight security arrangements.

The 62-day annual pilgrimage to the 3,888-metre-high cave shrine commenced from the twin tracks of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district on July 1. The yatra is scheduled to conclude on August 31—(KNO)
