Srinagar CNS, Apr 30: Amid surge in Covid-19 positive cases from past 3 days, authorities have declared 5 localities of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar city as ‘Containment Zone’.
Srinagar district administration on Friday said that Mehjoor Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Pirbagh Hyderpora, Boatman Colony Bemina and Parimpora have also reported dozens of Covid-19 cases.
“ there is possibility that Covid-19 positive patients in these said clusters might have come in contact with many other persons in these areas and there are chances of community transmission of the deadly virus in these localities and its surroundings, and in order to curb the further transmission of Covid-19 in these areas and surroundings, it is felt necessary to take strict measures by restricting movement of people and other activities in and around its surroundings” the circular reads.
Thus keeping such circumstances in mind, the district administration has declared these areas as containment zones.
The order further warns that unnecessary movement of any person will be strictly dealt under the relevant provisions of the law
Meanwhile the concerned department have been directed by administration to ensure the availability of all basic requirements including food grains, LPG medicines etc in these Containment Zones.
However, the said order ends with the directions that CMO Srinagar should activate the Rapid Response Teams (RRTS) immediately for survey and surveillance in these areas besides line listing and contact tracing while the Commissioner SMC shall depute teams immediately to sanitize the Containment zones.
