Ganderbal April 21【KNZ】:Police use smoke shells in Ganderbal to desperse the protesting Anganwari workers and helpers demanding release of pending wages and regularization of their service
Scores of Anganwadi workers and helpers today staged protest demonstration against the government for ‘failing to release their pending wages from past nine months’.They were also demand regularization of their services.
An eye witness said the protesting Anganwadi women workers and helpers who assembled at Eidgah Beehama were chanting slogans, ‘we want justice’. They were demanding immediate release of their pending wages of past nine months’ and regularization of their service.
They later blocked Beehama – Safapora Road. Police immediately swung into action and tried to disperse protesters.
However the protesting Anganwadi workers continued the protest.
As the protesters didn’t back down police swung into action and used batons and some smoke shells to disperse them.
Protestors said that the government has failed to release their wages from past nine months thereby leaving the Anganwadi workers to suffer.
“We have not received our salaries from last nine months,” said a protester. She further said that they have been demanding regularisation of their services from last one year, but government is not listening to their pleas. “Besides ignoring our pleas, the government is not even releasing our pending wages,” she added.
They said that they will continue to stage protests against the government in case they failed to fulfill their demands.
When contacted SHO Ganderbal Nisar Hurrah told Kashmir News Zone-(KNZ) that the protesting Anganwadi workers disrupted traffic on the Beehama Safapora road leading massive traffic jam in the area did not remove the blockades they were forced to resort to fire some smoke shells to disperse them.KNZ
