Srinagar, November 08(GNS): Continuing its driver against drug menace, police on Friday attached property of a drug peddler worth 75 lac in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that in a major breakthrough against the drug menace, Anantnag Police attached a single-storied residential house worth ₹70 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Rasool Sheikh, resident of Gopalpora Kalan. The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.
According to police spokesman, the Property attachment is linked to FIR No. 86/2023, registered under Sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act, following investigations that established its use in drug trafficking activities.
Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh is a habitual offender with a history of involvement in multiple narcotics cases. This action underscores Anantnag Police’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and ensuring that those involved in such crimes face the full force of the law, he said.
Anantnag Police remains steadfast in its mission to combat drug abuse and trafficking, working tirelessly to safeguard the youth and protect the community from the harmful impact of narcotics.
