Baramulla, Sep 10 (GNS): Security forces on Thursday claimed to have recovered war-like stores from Dulanja area of Uri along Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Commanding Officer 88 Rashtriya Rifles Vivek Venkat briefing a presser at Uri brigade unit said that “the security forces had been receiving regular inputs over a week now into delivery of consignment in areas
along the LOC in North Jhelum sub sector, likely to be used for likely fuelling nefarious in the hinterland.”
Accordingly, as per the Army officer, a slew of search operations were organised along areas
astride Jhelum River including Kala Bhat, Chappar, Dhulanja, Cutting Area, Dhuianja Infantry Safe Line (ISL).
“On September 9, a credible input was received from Jammu Kashmir Police regarding presence of a cache of small arms in general Area Dulanja”, the officer said.
“Consequently post deliberate planning, a specific search was launched in general area Dulanja Infantry Safe Line (ISL) at 1320 hours by a team which continued throughout the day”, the officer said adding “The searches culminated in the recovery of War-like stores in general area cutting on September 10 at 0525 hours.”
The arms and ammunition recovered during the searches include two M16 Rifles (Pak Origin), two Pistols (Pak Origin), four Magazines (M16 Rifle), and four Magazines (Pistols), the officer maintained.
The press conference was also attended by concerned police officials including SDPO and SHO Uri. (GNS)
