Srinagar 02 Aug : Civil curfew and shutdown would be observed in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, August 6 to protest the assault on Article 35-A.
This was decided today in a meeting which was attended by Ulema, Muslim Welfare Forum and civil society members at Eidgah Masjid in the district. The meeting was presided over by Ghulam Rasool Khateeb.
The speakers discussed the “burning issue” of Article 35A which is listed before the Supreme Court for hearing on 6th August, said a member, who participated in the meeting.
Raising voice against the annulment of the article which defines the permanent residents of the state, the speakers decided that rallies would be taken out after Friday prayers tomorrow.
They also decided to observe shutdown and civil curfew on Monday, August 6.
The separatists and trade bodies in Kashmir have already called for shutdown on August 5 and 6 to protest the attack on the Article 35-A.
