Srinagar, Feb 2 : Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla has filed a complaint against a person for ‘misusing’ social media to ‘malign’ his reputation in the society.
ARTO Baramulla, Mubashir Jan told news agency KNT that he has approached Cyber Police Station Srinagar, seeking registration of FIR against a person who he alleged ‘defamed’ him by uploading ‘unverified’ videos on social media platforms.
The officer in his complaint has sought registration of FIR against one Sirajudin Salam, a resident of Baramulla for uploading unverified video on social media.
“One person namely Sirajudin Salam R/O Baramulla submitted an RTI application before APIO and same was replied within time framework, now repeatedly he again tried to defame the image of our organization by uploading a video without verifying the facts,” reads the complaint.
He further alleged that Salam recently uploaded similar video following which he filed an application before SHO Cyber Police Station, Srinagar for lodging an FIR.
“Investigation agency has every right to verify facts but how can a common person certify things with authority on social media defaming organization especially me,” ARTO wrote in his complaint. (KNT)
