Srinagar, 23 Jan: Srinagar recorded the coldest day of the season so far on Saturday, even as snowfall continued in eastern parts of the district.

As per Kashmir Weather, an independent weather forecaster, maximum temperature settled at 2.3 degrees Celsius in Srinagar — 4.6 degrees below the normal for this time of the year.

The ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a high temperature of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius and was the coldest place in the valley.

The maximum temperature at Pahalgam resort, which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath yatra in south Kashmir, settled at a high of 0.9 degrees Celsius as against 9.2 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Qazigund — the gateway town to the valley in south Kashmir recorded a high of 0.7 degrees Celsius — decrease of 7 degree from 7.7 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Kokernag town recorded a high of 2.6 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara registered a maximum temperature of 4.1 degrees Celsius.

Kashmir Weather has forecast improvement in weather from today late evening with possibility of light snow showers at few places on Sunday.
