Srinagar : Soon after the fidayeen attack jolted the paramilitary forces in Lethpora area of Awantipora, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) released a video of Adil Ahmad Dar, claiming the responsibility of the attack. In a 10 minute long video, he is heard saying, “by the time this video reaches you, I will be in Heaven.”
In the suicide bombing attack, executed via a car on the Jammu and Srinagar highway, targeting the convoy, which had 2500 security personnel, claimed at least 30 CRPF personnel’s lives.
Mr. Dar joined JeM last year on 19 March, alongside his two friends, Tawseef and Waseem. In this video, highlighting the plight of “Indian and Kashmiri Muslims”, he said, “Your oppression fuels our Jihad.” He also claimed that he was bounded to his duty of carrying ahead the ‘legacy of Jaish’, mentioning various incidents, including Badamibagh Attack, hijacking of IC-184, and 2001 Indian Parliament attack, he said, “India shivers in the name of Jaish.” He also claimed that security forces can’t weaken them after killing a few commanders.
Mr. Dar, alias Waqaas, was a resident of Gundibagh, Pulwama. He was a dropout from school and was working as a mason. He also led prayers in the local mosque and has outlived two brothers.
Appealing North and Central Kashmir to join the Tehreek, he praised the participation of south Kashmir.
