Srinagar, Apr 04 (KS): Srinagar Police on Tuesday evening said that the owner of the house where a prostitution racket was busted yesterday, has been arrested while the proceedings have been started to formally attach the house.
In a tweet, Srinagar Police as per Kashmir Scroll, said that the owner of the house identified as Altaf Hussain Afaki has been arrested.
Police further said that the proceedings have been started for formal attaching and sealing the house.
“Owner of the house used for immoral activities namely: Altaf Hussain Afaki S/o Asadullah Afaki R/o chanapora arrested under section 3 of Immoral trafficking prevention act 1956(ITPA). Proceedings started for formal attachment/sealing of house as per section 18 of ITPA,” Srinagar Police tweeted.
On Monday evening, Srinagar Police claimed to have busted a prostitution racket in Bagh-e-Mehtab area by arresting eight persons including four sex workers.
“A prostitution racket in a rented accommodation at Bagh-e-Mehtab busted. 2 persons running this arrested:
1) Irshad Ahmad Bhat of Pampore 2) Mohd Shafi Hajam of Karimabad Pulwama. 4 female sex workers (all locals of Srinagar) & 2 customers detained. FIR registered at chanpura PS,” Srinagar Police had tweeted—(KS)
