Ganderbal, July 11: The body 18-year-old boy, who had drowned in the Sindh river in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday, was fished out around 1 kilometre away from where he had drowned, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Sameer Ahmad Mir, son of Nazir Ahmad Mir of Najwan area of Ganderbal had slipped and drowned in the Sindh river.

He said that soon after the incident police and locals launched a rescue operation to trace the boy.

The official said that after hectic efforts his body was retrieved around one kilometre away, from where he had drowned.

He added that Sameer was the lone son of Mir family and his body was being handed over to family after medico-legal formalities.
