He was sole bread earner in family: Villagers

Budgam, Feb 19 : Hundreds of people participated in the funeral of slain SPO Altaf Ahmed at his native village Khreerigund, Chadoora in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.
SPO Altaf Ahmed sustained a bullet injury in the Budgam gunfight and later succumbed.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a wreath-laying ceremony IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that a cordon was laid in a village in Beerwah area of Budgam in the mid-night and in the initial exchange of firing, SPO Altaf Ahmed sustained injuries and later succumbed.
According to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), locals at Khreerigund said that Altaf was a lone bread earner for his family and friendly to everyone.
“Altaf was a very noble soul. His death is a big shock for us. He has elderly parents. It was for them he was working hard,” the locals said.
Altaf, who is 26 years old is survived by his elderly parents and two brothers. One among the brothers is not mentally fit.
Meanwhile, amid sobs, hundreds of people participated in the funeral of the slain SPO. He was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Khreerigund.
DSP, SHO Chadoora, SHO Chararisharief, and other police officers visited the house of slain SPO and expressed their condolences with the bereaved family—(KNO)
