Budgam, Aug 25: People from different parts of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district Saturday staged protest against the bad condition of roads.
Eyewitnesses said that people from different hamlets of Budgam including Nadigam, Naidgam, Bandgam, Cherhar, Panchas, Wahabpora, Charhar, Raizwan and Bandgam came out on streets and assembled on railway track near Naidgam. They staged massive protest against the ‘dilapidated’ road conditions in the district.
Chanting slogans against the R&B department, the protestors blocked railway track at Nadigam by erecting barricades.
The protesters said that the ‘delaying tactics’ of the R&B department to macadamise the roads have forced them to block the railway track.
Top administrative officials rushed to spot and pacified the protesters after which rail service was restored.
District Development Commissioner Budgam Sehrish Asghar told CNS that the affected roads were not part of any project. “Now we have taken cognizance and work will be started to improve the condition of roads in question,” she said. (CNS)
