Kupwara,April 29:Police in Kupwara has solved a case of burglary and arrested the burglar involved in the commission of crime besides recovering the stolen cash.
A written complaint was received by Police Post Bazar Kupwara from one Intekhab Aalam Bhat son of Saifuddin Bhat , a resident of Gani Mohalla Baramulla doing business in Kupwara wherein he had stated that during the intervening night of 27th and 28th April, his shop was looted by some unknown person or persons.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 98/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kupwara and investigation was taken up by a team of Police led by SI Sameer Ahmad, Incharge Police Post Bazaar Kupwara.
During the course of investigation, a few suspects were rounded up by Police for questioning and finally the investigating team zeroed in on one suspect, who turned out to be a acquaintance of the victim .
The suspect identified as Mohd Shahid Salmani son of Abdul Aziz Salmani , a resident of Bijnour Uttar Pradesh running a Barber shop in Hajaj market Kupwara on being questioned confessed to his involvement in the commission of crime. On the disclosure of the accused , the stolen cash amounting to ₹153880 ( one lac fifty three thousand eight hundred eighty) was recovered from the room in which the accused was putting up on rent.
The accused after arrest has been taken in Police custody and is being questioned to rule out his involvement in any other criminal case .
Police will shortly file the chargesheet after completing the legal formalities of the case.
