GANDERBAL, FEBRUARTY 06: The District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal Hashmat Ali Khan today chaired a meeting of the District Level Task Force (DLTF) Committee to discuss and finalize the action plan for celebration of Beti Bacho Beti Padho (BBBP) scheme in the district.
District Programme officer ICDS, Ganderbal, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer besides officials from Govt.
Degree College Kangan and Ganderbal were also present in the meeting.
At the outset of the meeting, District Programme officer ICDS deliberated about the week-long action plan for the celebration of BBBP besides initiative and need of the scheme. She said coordinated and convergent efforts are needed to ensure survival, protection and education of the girl child.
The meeting was informed that a wide spectrum of activities will be taken during the week long program in order to propagate the importance of BBBP program in the district. Activities such as celebration of girl child, mass media awareness campaign through awareness van, banners hoardings, painting competition, Skit, drama play reflecting the importance of BBBP, indoor games match amongst the budding girls, field day with the beneficiaries of SRLM besides capacity building workshop on unsafe abortions and prevention of female fetus will be also held in the district.
After discussing pros and cons of the action plan, DDC urged upon the participants to adopt local best practices and ensure that message of BBBP Scheme reach maximum of beneficiaries so that positive results can be achieved on the ground.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that in order to make this initiative successful, the line departments have to work in coordination. It was also said that success stories related to the girl child in various fields like education, art, skill development, business, entrepreneurship shall be felicitated.
