Ganderbal 11 July (KNZ):The residents of Gutlibagh and other adjoining areas are up in arms against the Power Development Corporation (PDC) for dilapidated condition of road from Chappergund to Gutlibagh.
Despite passing of five years, work on Chappergund to Gutlibagh road in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has not been completed yet, locals are blaming Power Development Corporation (PDC) apathy.
Loclas said .”The work on the road was taken by Power Development Corporation (PDC) five years ago for widening and upgradation. This road is part of 93 MW Ganderbal power project. The road approaches to proposed water tunnel for the power project.” and the authorities are playing hide and seek with us.
Local residents also said the roads dug up for work are left open, and despite repeated appeals and complaints by residents, the corporation authorities have not taken steps to cover the roads for the safety and convenience of the public.
Local populace said then R&B minister Nayeem Akther visited area.He assured that work on the road will be completed within few months but it is still incomplete from last few years
The locals said due to the pathetic condition of the road, the commuters and pedestrians are facing huge inconvenience every day.
They further said “Due to rough of the road, many people have suffered injuries. During rains, the road turns slippery, which poses accident risk.”
Due to the bad condition of the roads several vehicles have got damaged in the past.
In various spots main reason for the bad condition of the road is lack of the proper drainage facilities and hence the drainage discharge and the water-logging results in the submerging of the road.
When Kashmir News Zone-KNZ contacted Power Development Corporation (PDC) Executive Engineer Shabir Ahmad he said ”we have approached higher authorities and we also made an estimate, its project work which is depended on funds,as soon as project will start the work on the road will also started.
Now local residents appeal to Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and Chief Engineers R&B, PDC and Irrigation & Flood Control departments to look into the matter and direct the authorities concerned to take immediate action.KNZ
