GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 02: The Civil Society of Sub Division Kangan, Ganderbal today met the District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla here.

During the meeting, the Civil Society addresses several genuine demands of people of the area and various developmental projects in Kangan Sub district.

The Civil Society raised the issue of ignorance and avoidance of the local people in the matters of employment in the construction of tunnels at village Gagingeer and other places and demanded the matter may be taken up with the concerned authorities so that the local people of the Kangan Sub District are not deprived of their entitlements.

Apprising the issue of encroachment along the Nalla Sindh and protecting the Nalla from getting polluted and contaminated by the wastes of hotels and other establishments in any matter whatsoever, the DDC directed the SDM Kangan to start massive encroachment drive along the highway so that the Order of Hon’ble Court of Jammu and Kashmir, prohibiting any kind of constructions within hundred meters from Nalla Sindh be implemented in letter and spirit.

They demanded adequate space for parking for the transporters at the Bus yard, so that unnecessary traffic jams are avoided in the main market Kangan. For this, Dr. Singla asked the SDM Kangan to look for extra land in addition to the already provided land near PDC Land for the Bus yard.

Raising the issue of the beautification of Kangan market, the DDC said that the funds are already released for installation of street lights and dumper bins for the removal of garbage from the market.

The other issues that were discussed during the meeting were shifting of Boys Higher Secondary School Kangan to its designated site, so that Girls Higher Secondary School can function smoothly, compensation to the Land holders, whose land has come under acquisition for widening of National Highway road connecting Srinagar to Leh, from Wayil to Baltal and construction of footpaths along sides of National Highway road at kangan market.

Responding to the demands, the DDC assured them that all their genuine demands would be looked into on priority and directed the concerned officials to take all necessary measures to address their issues at the earliest. He asked the Chief Planning Officer to assess the developmental need of the area and instructed officials to put in place a proper mechanism to meet the aspiration of the locals.

Among others the meeting was attended by dysp Ganderbal, CPO Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, other district officers and members of civil society kangan.
