Ganderbal 23 April【KNZ】:Government forces on Monday resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse Degree college students protesting against Kathua rape-and-murder case in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir.
An eye witness told Kashmir News Zone (KNZ) that the students of Govt Degree College Ganderbal boycotted their class in the afternoon and staged protests and demanded justice for the eight-year-old girl and raised slogans against the rapists.
However, forces deployed in the area resorted to tear gas shelling to break up the protest, triggering clashes.
Before stepping outside, the students staged a protest inside the college where they raised slogans in favour of justice to Kathua minor who was gangraped and murdered in Rasana village of Kathua in January this year.
Amid pro-freedom and anti-India sloganeering the students came out of the college gate and blocked Ganderbal-Shalbugh road outside the college.
According to reports said during clashes 5 policemens and 12 students sustain injuries in the clashes.
A police statement said that today at Ganderbal degree college, there was heavy stone-pelting at Government degree college, Ganderbal, in which a crowd of more than 150 comprising of students of degree college ganderbal and outsiders blocked the road leading to saloora.
A police party was rushed to the spot, and heavy clashes ensued.
During the clashes, an attempt was made on the life of policemen during which 5 policemen sustained injuries in which 2 policemen namely Ct Aquib ali and SPO Rameez Raja were heavily injured.
In this regard FIR has been registered under 67/2018 under sections 147, 148, 149, 332, 336, 341, 427, 307 in Police station Ganderbal.KNZ
