SRINAGAR: Class work will remain suspended in all schools and colleges of Srinagar district on Friday in view of killing of scholar-turned-militant Manan Wani in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Official sources said the decision has been taken as a “precautionary measure” to avoid law and order situation in the district.
Wani was killed in a gunfight along with an aide Ashiq Hussain Zargar in a gunfight with the forces in Shatgund village of Kupwara today.
His killing triggered massive protests in his native Kupwara district.
Separatist leadership has called for a shutdown tomorrow to pay homage to Wani.
