Kargil, Sep 21, 2023: The Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Tourism Department, Municipal Committee, Kargil and AKTTA today jointly conducted a cleanliness drive at Biathang Shilikchey, Omachik Thang, LoC Viewpoint Hunderman and Hunderman Broq Museum.
District Panchayat Officer, Padma Angmo, Assistant Director, Tourism Aga Syed Toha, Executive Officer, MC, Kargil, Shafaqat Hussain, Sarpanch Shilikchey, Mohd Abass, Panch Hunderman Brok besides other officers and officials of RD&PRD, Tourism, Municipal Committee, Safai Karamchari, villagers and youth volunteers, actively participated in the drive.
Special focus was laid on the cleanliness of tourist spots, water bodies and removal of waste from different places.
The DPO appealed people to maintain cleanliness around their surroundings. She also informed about various interventions in achieving the goals of Swachhta Pakhwada with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhta.
Assistant Director Tourism, Kargil, Syed Aga Toha said that under Swachhta Pakhwada and ‘Travel for Life Mission’ of the Ministry of Tourism, GoI, the cleanliness drive was conducted successfully with the support of RD&PRD and MC Kargil.
He said that around 40 volunteers participated in the event which was aimed to maintain cleanliness at tourist destinations across the country.
Later, the Sarpanch Shilikchey thanked the RD&PRD and other departments for conducting the drive and also urged to organize such drives in future as well.
