Kupwara, Jul 19 (GNS): Chief Medical Officer Kupwara taking cognizance of allegations into medical negligence leveled by a family against doctors at District Hospital Handwara over death of a baby inside its mother’s womb, has on Tuesday ordered a probe and directed the members to furnish details within 24 hours.
“In view of the infant (baby) death at District Hospital Handwara which has spread on social media as well, the following team of officers/officials is hereby constituted to conduct impartial probe in the death and furnish the details report within 24 hours”, reads the order, a copy of which lies with GNS.
The probe members as per the order include; Dr. Farooq Quareshi (Gynecologist, Block Medical Officer, Tanghdar), Dr. Sheikh Iqbal (Consultant Physician, SDH Kupwara) and Dr. Firdous Ahmad Shiekh, Consultant Pediatrics, SDH Sogam).
Notably, the probe has been ordered a day after a family talking to GNS alleged the doctors at District Hospital Handwara of medical negligence which according to the family resulted in death of the baby inside its mother’s womb. The allegations were however denied by the Medical Superintendent concerned, who said that it was a case of Intra-uterine death (IUD) and that there was no medical negligence on part of the doctors.
