Block Diwas acts as effective platform for efficient Grievance Redressal Mechanism: Dr Sehrish

BARAMULLA, JUNE 29 : As the LG administration is keen to streamline public service delivery system at the door steps of the general public, a special public outreach programme “Block Divas” was today organized at Kreeri wherein the people from the adjacent areas put forth their demands before the administration for their timely redressal.

Chairperson District Development Council Baramulla, Safeena Beigh was the chief guest while as Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar was the guest of honor on the occasion. Additional Commissioner Kashmir Qazi Sarwar was also present in the Mega Block Divas.

The programme witnessed large participation of people from Wagoora, Tilgam, Nowpora, Dardpora besides other adjoining areas.

During Block Diwas, various public delegations and scores of individuals raised various developmental issues before the Deputy Commissioner and sought timely resolution of their grievances and demands.

On the occasion, the people put forth several demands of the area having large public importance including construction of drainage system in Kreeri, macdimization of Kreeri-Tilgam Road, development of inner links of Kreeri besides sanctioning of sports stadium in the area.

Introduction of Management, Commerce and Biotechnology streams in Higher Secondary School Kreeri, Providing blood bank in Sub District Hospital Kreeri were also among other demands of the people.

Traders federation Kreeri also sought the facility of cold storage house in the area for proper marketing of fruits and also relaxation of formalities in credit for availing various kinds of credit facilities.

On the occasion, the concerned officers of pertaining departments responded to all the grievances and demands raised by the people during the programme.

The chief guest, Safeena Beigh while addressing the people said that the recent announcement made by the Union government regarding allotment of funds for Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway is a welcome step which was the long pending demand of the Public.

She said that this step of present dispensation at the central level will not only prove the ease in the journey but also will have a greater economical impact in the lives of the people.

She further said that since the empowerment of the Panchayati Raj in the JKUT, the people are conveying their issues and demands at their doorsteps thus the development is seen at the grass roots level.

The Deputy Commissioner while speaking on the occasion said that the Block Diwas programmes are held in JKUT only wherein the district administration conducts such programmes to take firsthand appraisal of all issues at the doorsteps of the people.

She also said that grievance redressel camps have played a vital role in bringing the people and government together where everyone is able to put forth his demands and accordingly concerned departments respond to the issues and demands.

Further, the DC said that accountability and transparency has been bred into the system through the Block Diwas mechanism and she is hopeful that people will continue to utilise this platform for putting forth genuine grievances so that the administration will subsequently redressel all the demands and grievances of the people in a time bound manner.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner assured them that all their issues and demands shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their timely redressal for which on spot directions were also passed to the concerned officers in this regard.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner distributed individual beneficiary certificates and other deliverables among the people.
