Recently country’s one of the richest men as per reports have spent Rs 700 crore in a lavish marriage ceremony and when he was asked by a journalist that whether he contributes into charity he replied that no he do not as he is adding on economy of the country,? Mr Malik while speaking at a function organised here to mark Flag Day celebrations by the Rajya Sainik Board.
?Though there is a section of rich class in the country, who do not contribute in charity, so they are like “rotten potatoes” for me, said the Governor.
He further added that in Rs 700 crore spent on marriage ceremony, in Jammu and Kashmir, this amount could have raised 700 new schools and helped more than 7000 war widows to get their children educated and grow.
In Kashmir also many politicians and bureaucrats are millionaires but sorry to say, they do not have sensitivity towards the society,? said the Governor adding, it is unfortunate the elite class, rich people do not contribute in charity and have no emotions and sensitivity towards the society.
He further said that instead of visiting to Haridwar or any other pilgrimage, people must go to the places where a jawan has made sacrifice for the nation because those places are really ‘pious’ and equivalent to a pilgrimage.
He however, said that no country is build with complexes, buildings, schools and etc but India is known for biggest Army.
?Indian Army is our pride and on Flag Day, we should not see what is contributed but more important is to remember the real heroes, said Mr Malik.
He added that in Bulandshehar near his native village, two real brothers were honoured with ‘victory cross’ for serving in the army during British Rule and it is the lone incident, adding, I used to live in Som Vihar in Delhi, which was named after Major Somnath, who laid down his life in Kashmir and protected the Airport.
It was only because of his sacrifice, Kashmir Airport was saved and he was the first Param Vik Chakra of the country,? said the Governor adding that the nation must be indebted to the Indian Army.
When people warm themselves in front of a heater, sit in a quilt and enjoy peanuts while watching their televisions, at that time our jawans are standing tall in places like Siachen Glacier to protect our country from the enemy, said Mr Malik.
He however, had all appreciation for the Army for sacrificing lives for country’s pride and asked people to salute them and have respect for the soldiers.(UNI)
