Two Clinics Shut After Doctors Found ‘Practicing During Duty Hours’

Srinagar, Jan 10: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag K.K Sidha has sought an explanation from Medical Superintendent after fourteen doctors were found absent from their duties on the former’s visit to Maternity & Child Care Hospital in the district. The top district officer also seized two clinics as doctors were found ‘practicing during their duty hours’.

An official in the knowhow of the visit told GNS that Deputy Commissioner K.K Sidha visited Maternity & Child Care Hospital at Sherbagh in a bid to enquire into medicare facilities and heating arrangements made to the admitted patients at the health facility.

During the visit the top-district officer, as per the official, inspected various wards and sections and also interacted with the admitted patients.

However fourteen doctors were found absent from their duties after which DC directed In-Charge Medical Superintendent to explain their cause of absence.

On the sidelines of the visit, DC also inspected clinics functioning around the hospital. “Few government doctors were caught practicing during their duty hours even as not adhering to COVID-19 protocols at two clinics; Maqbool Pharmacy and Al-Qadir Medical Store, upon which both the clinics were seized”, the official said.
