GANDERBAL, APRIL 25: The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired the District Level Committee meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) here at DPO Ganderbal to discuss various measures to curb Drug abuse and Narcotic trade in the District.
The meeting was attended by SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, SDM Kangan Javid Ahmad, CMO, DSWO, DFO Sindh Forest Division, CAO, besides other officers of Civil and Police Administration.
The DC took feedback from the officers and emphasis upon taking effective measures against drug abuse in the district. He enjoined upon them to ensure zero tolerance towards drug abuse and stressed upon better coordination among various departments and implementation of innovative ideas in controlling the drug abuse.
The officers of Excise, Drug Control and Health Department briefed the meeting regarding measures taken in controlling the drug menace and DC gave necessary instructions to them in this regard.
SSP Ganderbal briefed about the various measures that Ganderbal Police has been taking for prevention of drug abuse including
Drug awareness rallies, Seminars in education institutions, Rehabilitation of victims, besides taking stringent legal action against those found indulging in drug peddling.
The Police department was asked to further intensify the vigil against drug proliferation, consumption and intensifying awareness against such addictive substances and to seal all such properties that are acquired by any person through NDPS trade in the district.
While reviewing the awareness campaigns, the DC directed the concerned departments to start massive awareness camps and Tehsildars were directed to activate Lumberdars and Chowkidars to keep vigil eye on Drug Peddlers in their respective areas.
