GANDERBAL, MARCH 13:
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today launched deworming drive in the district from District Hospital Ganderbal wherein CMO Ganderbal Dr Afroza Shah, MS DH Ganderbal Dr Yasmeen Kango along with other officers/officials took part.
The programme was launched by DC Ganderbal and other dignitaries by administering deworming tablets to the kids assembled at the DEIC Unit of DH Ganderbal.
The programme is being observed across districts under the banner of National Health Mission’s ‘National Deworming Day’.
The DC on this occasion told “We have fixed a target of deworming the children in the district. Deworming helps in improving children, health, nutrition level and learning abilities and enhances the health of children later in life”. Deworming reduces the risk of worm infections in kids, he said.
The DC said that the medicines are available at all anganwari centres and schools in the district and involvement of PRIs has also been mandatory to make the aims and objectives of this programme successful.
During the drive single dose of Albendazole is administered to children from under 1 to 19 years of age group through the platforms of schools and anganwadi centers, he said.
CMO Ganderbal added Albendazole is an extremely safe drug that has been used for decades by millions of people in India, with no or minimal side effects.
MS DH Ganderbal while interacting with the students sensitized the participants to work upon debunking the myths and misinformation about deworming.
On this occasion CMO Ganderbal Dr Afroza Shah personally visited Govt Middle School Narayan Bagh along with I/C District National Deworming Programme , RBSK MHT B Lar and sensitised the staff and kids about the importance of deworming and significance of National Deworming Day.She laid stress on the importance of health and hygiene also on this occasion.
CMO Ganderbal earlier had already given directions to all health administrators to personally monitor the deworming out-reach programmes and ensure the targeted beneficiary is administered with deworming tablets.
She also framed committees who shall be monitoring the day to day activities pertaining to NDD.
The programme has been successfully kickstarted across all the schools and AWCs of District Ganderbal.
