GANDERBAL, JANUARY 15: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal who is also Chairman Management Committee of Sakhi One Stop Centre for women today chaired a meeting of all committee members to discuss the facilities being provided to the aggrieved women at One Stop Centre (OSC) in the district.
The meeting was attended by all committee members including Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, CPO Ganderbal, PO ICDS Ganderbal, CMO Ganderbal, Dy. SP HQ, Tehsildar Ganderbal and members from Civil Society Ganderbal.
Sakhi One Stop Centre for women is being out sourced to HOPE Disability Centre which is an NGO in the district since the launch of scheme as required permanent Government infrastructure is not available in the district.
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on the facilities available at the centre including staff, video conferencing, infrastructure, surveillance, etc.
The representatives from HOPE Disability Centre informed the meeting that all the requisite facilities are available at the centre as per the guidelines of the scheme and informed about the cases facilitated by the centre since the OSC was established there which include cases of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Apart from above facilities, the officials of NGO informed that the centre also assist the aggrieved women and children by providing police assistance, medical aid, psycho-social counselling, legal aid etc. under one roof.
After a brief deliberation upon the working of the centre it was decided that OSC shall continue functioning form HOPE Disability Centre for further 3 months.
The purpose of One Stop Center is to provide integrated services to women and affected by domestic violence, dowry abuse, mental torture, sexual assault, eve teasing, cyber-crime, rape, economical violence or any other violence both in private and public places under one roof.
Meanwhile Tehsildar Ganderbal informed that about 3 kanal land is identified within the vicinity of District Hospital for which DC directed him to complete all documentation work so that land is transferred to the concerned department to develop infrastructure at earliest for establishment of OSC.
The DC urged upon all stakeholders to create awareness about the functioning and facilities available at the OSC so that the people will get a clear knowledge how OSC is working for the empowerment of women and their welfare.
He said that by establishing OSC and providing counselling sessions will boost morale and bring lasting confidence among distressed victims and reiterated that district administration will take all possible steps to eradicate this menace of social injustice particularly domestic abuses and violence’s that are on rise at present.
